I have a Golden Retriever, my parents have a Cocker Spaniel, and my neighbor across the street has a Beagle. That is evolution at work, right?
Let’s make sure we are defining the word evolution correctly. In the area of life sciences there is macro evolution and micro evolution. Macro evolution is where one animal evolves or changes into a higher animal. We do not see those changes today and nobody has seen those changes in the past. Macro evolution is not possible in the world of science because an animal cannot add information to its genes to change from one animal to another.
Micro evolution is science because we see different breeds of dog and we see different species of bears. Micro evolution is possible because the information for slight changes is already in the genes. Another name for this is natural selection. This allows for an animal to survive in a certain environment. Let’s use the fox as an example: the Artic Fox has smaller ears to prevent excessive heat loss and a very thick coat of highly insulated fur to keep warm. The Fennec Fox is a small fox that lives in the hot climate of northern Africa. This desert fox has large ears to get rid of body heat and a thinner fur coat. This is natural selection; slight changes to help animals adapt and survive. The information is there for smaller ears and a heavy fur coat and information is also there for large ears and a thinner fur coat. No new information can be added to change a fox to a higher animal. A fox started out as a fox, is now a fox, and will always be a fox.
But ask the animals and they will teach you or the birds
of the air and they will tell you or speak to the earth and
it will teach you or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which
of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has
done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the
breath of all mankind.
