Lay Leadership Governing Structure

As we continue to emphasize prayer here at Rush Creek, we are excited about a slight change of format that will intentionally allow all of the leadership to pray together more regularly. Beginning in our new fiscal/ministry year (July 1st, 2024), our Elders, Deacons, Trustees will conduct their meetings on the same evening and spend the first half-hour in prayer together.

With 9 Trustees, 9 Deacons, and, as of this upcoming year, 7 Elders we have 25 lay leaders who dedicate time, talent, and gifts to these areas. Add to that our 12 program Staff and we have 37 who are part of these various leadership teams. And these are not the only leaders in our church who dedicate time, attention, gifts, and resources toward God’s purposes for this local body of believers.

We thank God for these leaders and the dozens of others who share in the leadership of this church in big and small ways.

Each year the congregation votes on the new Elders who will be elected to serve a three year term. It is the role of the Elders to affirm the appointments for roles of Deacons and Trustees.

As with the Elders, there is a similar 3-year rotation of leadership for the Trustees and Deacons. You may also be interested to note that of our 12 staff, the nine that have been there the longest average 10 years on staff. That is a remarkable commitment for which we praise God.

Finally, as an overview, according to our by-laws, our Elders and Trustees combined hold the fiduciary responsibility for the church. In short, the yearly budget is developed
by the Staff and Trustees, and approved by the Elders.
