Our Launch Internships program is an intentional leadership development path for young leaders that emanates from our core values. You can learn more about Launch internships here.
Bethany Timmer—Drop Zone Intern
Bethany Timmer has attended Rush Creek Bible Church since 2011. She became a leader in both Dropzone and Impact56 in 2013 and has served faithfully within our youth ministry programs ever since. Bethany’s junior year of high school she was a Youth Ministry Intern. This year she will be one of the Drop Zone interns and we are so excited to see her continued growth. She will also be starting as a freshman this fall at Grace Bible College and plans to graduate in the spring of 2021 with a bachelor’s de- gree in Human Services.
Emily Stratmeyer—Drop Zone Intern
Emily has attended Rush Creek since 2002. She is an Impact 56 leader, plays guitar and piano in the CREW, and is involved in visual arts and drama ministries. She is now joining us as a Drop Zone intern and we know God will use Emily in huge ways for His glory!
Sam Tanner—Youth Ministry Intern
Sam has lived his entire life in Hudsonville with his family. He is a junior at Jenison High School and is involved in orchestra, band, bowling, Links (autism awareness) and other extra curricular activities. He first came to know the Lord as his Savior when he was just five years old, but didn’t fully understand the importance of that choice until he started attending youth group. Sam has been actively involved in our youth ministry programs since 5th grade and became a student leader in Impact56 when he was in 8th grade. He is also involved in our church orchestra and is part of our 2018 Talamanca mission trip.
Connelly Steinbach—Worship Arts
Connelly has been involved with performing arts for most of her life. The majority of her performing arts experience comes from her years of participation in Homeschool Performing Arts, as well as Master Arts Theater. She loves both acting and directing performing arts. She has directed drama at Rush Creek Bible Church, ResLife Church, and has taken a directing workshop at Master Arts theater. She is thankful for this opportunity to intern at Rush Creek Bible Church, and can’t wait to see how God uses her for His purpose.
Christian Terpstra—Digital Engagement Intern
Christian has attended Rush Creek Bible Church his entire life. He even spent his first 2 months at the old Berean BibleChurch. On November 20, 2005, He opened his heart and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The first part of his life he wasn’t actively involved in church. He would just go to church, attend Sunday school and leave. In 2010, he signed up to be on the tech team at Rush. This led him to want to participate even more in the technical ministry. The past year and a half he has been working closely with Patti and Mike working on website, video, and maintaining our social media pages.
As a new digital engagement intern, he will be doing all the things he has been doing previously, but working more closely with Cameron Townley and Oscar Quesada; working to improve the quality and integration of our website, social media, and email communication tools.
Jerry Ruiz—Pastoral Leadership Intern with emphasis in college age leadership
May of 2004 Jerry was a junior in high school. His youth pastor Josh Gonzalez asked if he was willing to teach in the fast food formal event. He was very nervous but he said yes. His lesson was the first verse he ever memorized—Ephesians 6:10, the ar- mor of God. From then on his efforts to learn, teach, and help the church has multi- plied many times over. He became a youth leader and fell in love with the youth; teaching, forming bonds, friendships, guiding people to Christ. In his ten+ years of ministry he learned the good, bad, and the ugly of meeting people where they are at. Yet it has always been the kids and their growth in Christ that keeps him coming back
As the new Pastoral Leadership Intern his emphasis will be in leading the college Elevate group. With the help of my wife Margarita and our leaders Andrew and Kayla Scholten, they will be teaching, building, and maintaining an open environment to worship Jesus Christ our Lord.
