Did God write the Bible or did man write the Bible? How can it be both?

The Bible is God’s Word, written by men by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The writers wrote in their own style reflecting their own personalities, but what is written is exactly what God wanted to say. Men wrote the Bible and miraculously the words in the Bible ended up to be the words of God himself. Do we understand fully on how this was accomplished? No. Do we know that this book is the Word of God? Yes.

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:20-21

Consider this: the Bible was written over a period of about 1,500 years by more than 40 different authors. The Bible was written on three continents, Africa, Asia and Europe, and in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. Yet, the Bible is a unity. From beginning to end, we are told of the plan of God’s salvation for mankind.

Look at these compelling evidences for the Bible being the Words of God.

Many people in the ancient world thought that the earth rested on the back of some animal or held up by a giant. But Job through the revelation of God thought otherwise.

He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. Job 26:7

Matthew Maury was born in 1806 and is considered the father of oceanography. He read this Bible verse.

The birds of the air and the fish of the sea and whatever passes through the paths of the seas. Psalms 8:8

Matthew then said, “If God said there are paths in the sea, I am going to find them.” Matthew Maury discovered the warm and cold continental currents 2,800 years after God’s Word stated they were there.

The Bible tells us of a ‘cycle’ of air currents 2,000 years before scientists found them.

The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.

Ecclesiastes 1:6

We know now that air around the earth turns in huge circles, clockwise in one hemisphere and counterclockwise in the other.
