All people are of one race (descended from Adam), created in the image of God. But Olivia, I’m sure you see unique differences in people, even in your neighborhood. The Bible tells us what happened between Noah and today that caused such differences in people to arise. After the Flood, the people became prideful in their own efforts and disobeyed God’s command to spread out over the earth. They built the Tower of Babel to worship the heavens instead of worshiping God.
So God confused their language—resulting in different language groups being formed. They could no longer understand one another. This caused them to move away from each other. And as the various groups became more and more separated, minor differences in groups arose as a result of the differing combinations of human genes. So, yes, I believe the people were probably a bit different back before the Flood because they spoke the same language and looked more similar than humans do today—but we are still humans belonging to one race.
