Purpose of Held
Held is a support group for mothers who have experienced the loss of an unborn or newly born child (up to one year of age). Held provides an opportunity for these mothers to share their experiences, grief journeys, and information with one another.
When/Where?
Held meets the 3rd Monday of every month at 7 pm at Rush Creek Bible Church:
2334 76th St. SW
Byron Center, MI 49315
*Held does not meet in December.
Attending a support group for the first time can be a difficult decision. These answers may help you know what to expect for your first meeting.
What if I don’t want to share my story?
You are welcome to just listen as others share their experiences. Sometimes hearing other’s stories and knowing you are not alone is all we can handle and that’s okay.
Is this a counseling group?
Held is simply mothers supporting mothers as we walk this difficult journey of grief. This group is not meant as a substitute for professional grief counseling.
Can I bring a supportive friend?
Yes! The focus of the group will be on the loss you have experienced as a mother. However, if you would like to bring a female friend to help you feel more comfortable, they are welcome to join us.
Is this group for me?
If you are a mother that has experienced the loss of an unborn or newly born child (up to a year of age) this group is for you, no matter the circumstances of your loss. Whether your loss was decades ago, or just recently, we welcome you.
When is the starting date?
There is no starting or ending date. Since this is not a curriculum based group, you are welcome to join us any month. We hope you find a “home” in our group, but there is no commitment to attend every month.
*Held does not meet in the month of December.
