I know that the Bible says not to gossip. But is gossiping so bad?
Gossiping is sharing information about another person that should not be shared. Yes, it may be true, but not helpful. Sometimes It is difficult to know if information is a harmful rumor or not. If it is information that does not need to be given, don’t share it.
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.
Proverbs 11:13
Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.
Proverbs 26:20
Gossip hurts relationships, damages friendships, and has the possibility of spreading lies and rumors. Be careful of what you say about other people, whether it is true or not. Put yourself in that person’s shoes; would you want that information shared?
